In an effort to reduce formaldehyde emissions, the California Air Resources Board (CARB) has enacted a new statute regarding composite wood products and how they are manufactured. Manufacturers of composite wood products as well as finished goods made from of Hardwood Plywood (HWPW), Particle Board (PB) and Medium Density Fibreboard(MDF) products have until January 1, 2009 to comply with the new initiative so that their goods may be legally sold in California.
In response to the stricter measures, many states as well as concerned manufacturers are looking to follow California’s lead on this important issue.
Formaldehyde emissions are a by product of the adhesives that are used in the plywood manufacturing process. In order to serve our customer base better, Rutland Plywood Corporation is working with several adhesive manufacturers to offer composite wood products that can comply with these regulations.
